I’ve considered for some time moving at least some of my writing over to Substack, and I have finally decided to do so. I plan to continue posting some content at The Power of Grace, a personal blog that I have used for more than a decade, as well as publishing essays periodically at Kuyperian Commentary, but Substack will, at least for now, become the new hub for my writing endeavors. Other projects are in the works, and if the Lord blesses those efforts, my work here may be integrated into something larger, but for now, here I am.
I wanted to briefly outline my plans for posting. The goal is usually to post three times each week:
Tuesdays – An article or essay on the topics I enjoy: theology, philosophy, culture, politics, literature, and the intellectual life
Fridays – A review of my recent reading, ongoing writing projects, and recommendations
Saturdays – A more devotional meditation designed to help Christians prepare for the Lord’s Day
Tuesdays will usually be original articles, but I do plan to repost some articles and essays that were previously published elsewhere, primarily from my personal blog. Some of those may be revised or expanded. Fridays will review some (not all) of what I have been reading and working on as well as links to other recommendations. I have logged my reading for many years and sometimes posted reviews and recommendations from my reading, and I hope to do something similar on Fridays, albeit on an abridged, weekly scale. I have been writing a weekly meditation for our church’s mailing list on Saturday evenings for several years—I think we started in early 2020 during COVID—and I have often been encouraged to find a way to publish them. Some have been posted on my personal blog or adapted for Kuyperian Commentary, but I plan to publish them weekly here on Saturdays around noon.
This is the plan, but like all plans of men, it is subject to forces outside of my control. I tremble to share even this much for fear that no sooner have I done so then providence will intervene and remind me that I am not in control. But perhaps it will help me remain accountable, at least, until I decide to do it another way. If nothing else, it should give you some idea whether there will be anything here to interest you.
